I now only use Xtrema cookware, because I have to always support my non chemical life.
I was very happy with my 10" Ceramic Versa Short-handled Skillet. I especially love that it is healthy cooking and does not leach and unhealthy chemicals into the food I am cooking for my family. Although it is not non-stick, it is definitely less-stick and is easy to cook in. It is also very easy to clean! I am happy with this skillet!
This is my first piece of cookware from this company. I love the versatility of using the Xtrema skillet on the stove, in the oven and microwave (although I'm phasing that out due to health risks). It is dishwasher safe, but thus far I have hand washed it. I'm having a bit of trouble using it on our gas range top. Our gas flame doesn't go very low, even on the lowest setting, and it ends up over heating the middle of the skillet because that is where the flame is on lowest setting. This makes it tough to clean once the food is stuck. I don't really find it to be "non stick" for this reason. Perhaps I am doing something wrong? I love it otherwise, and hope to get it figured out so I can build a set of different sizes and types of pans and bake ware. May I suggest a sauce pot that has an insert for steaming, and a baking sheet for cookies, fish, etc. I have Pampered Chef stoneware flat baking pans, but they are super heavy. I was hoping to see them here. Also a square, flat fry pan would be great, for pancakes, french toast, grilled cheese, etc. Thanks!
I have made several meals in this skillet since purchasing it a few weeks ago. I have never had this type of cookware before so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Our meals have been delicious and we can feel good about toxins/metals not leeching into our food!
After using nonstick cookware for several years, I had an "ah ha" moment recently when I realized that I was shooting myself in the foot by cooking healthy, organic food for my family in unhealthy pots and pans. Thankfully, I happened to read a blog post by Wellness Mama giving Xtrema a positive review, so I checked them out as well as several other companies/products . . . mostly stainless steel products. I started saving up money and after much research, decided to go with Xtrema, despite reading some negative reviews. I'm SO glad I did! If you were to switch straight from nonstick to these pots and pans, I can see why people are disappointed. There's a learning curve . . . cooking takes a little more time and thought. Personally, I am very happy to spend a few more seconds cleaning or wait a few minutes for the skillet to heat up in exchange for no more toxins! And actually, after practicing a few times, my eggs really don't stick that much. This skillet is extremely versatile and is very easy to clean. It's my "go to" on a daily basis. I have only had it for a couple months, but I look forward to using it for many years to come. I would also note, that I've been learning to cook on cast iron pans for a couple years now along side the nonstick I've been using, so that helped ease my transition to using ceramic. The benefit of Xtrema vs cast iron is the cleaning and upkeep is much easier! I'm grateful I spent the money to make a healthy switch for my family!
